Chapter 2 – The Son Who Finally Chose

Chapter 2 – The Son Who Finally Chose

Blue and red lights reflected across the marble walls.

Luxury cars lined the entrance as investigators entered the estate carrying sealed evidence cases.

Nobody resisted.

Victoria still believed she could recover.

"I know senators."

"I know judges."

"I built this city."

An older investigator smiled politely.

"And that's exactly why we're here."

He handed her an arrest warrant.

Victoria barely glanced at it.

Instead she turned toward Julian.

"Tell them they're making a mistake."

Julian didn't answer.

She grabbed his arm.

"I am your mother."

"I built everything you'll ever inherit."

His eyes filled with tears.

"No."

"You built everything I spent my life trying to deserve."

Silence.

Then he gently removed her hand from his sleeve.

"I loved you."

"I respected you."

"But I won't protect what you stole."

Those words hurt Victoria more than the warrant.

The guests watched history unfold.

For years everyone believed Julian would eventually become another version of his mother.

Instead...

He stepped beside Elena.

Not behind her.

Beside her.

The investigators escorted Victoria toward the entrance.

Just before reaching the door, she stopped.

She looked back.

"You planned this."

Elena answered honestly.

"No."

"You planned this."

"You spent years hurting people."

"I simply refused to become the next one."

Victoria laughed bitterly.

"You think destroying me will make you happy?"

Elena looked around the ballroom.

At frightened employees.

At relieved executives.

At families who had lived under Victoria's intimidation for decades.

"No."

"But maybe..."

"It will finally let everyone else breathe."

Outside...

May you like

News helicopters circled overhead.

The Sterling Empire had begun collapsing before sunset.
