Chapter 5 - The Unmasking

The man they caught wasn't a professional hitman—he was a disgruntled employee of the Rossi shipping firm, a man whose life had been ruined by the company’s recent stock crash. Under the pressure of Arthur Vance’s interrogation, he didn't last ten minutes.

He had the texts. The recordings. The wire transfers from Isabella’s private account.

"She told me to make it look like an accident," the man confessed, his voice shaking as he sat in the cold, windowless room of the estate’s basement. "She said if the baby didn't survive, the marriage would be over, and she would be the one to 'comfort' you until you were hers."

Marcus sat in the shadows of the room, listening to every word. He didn't speak. He didn't need to. He stood up, adjusted his cuffs, and walked out.

"What are you going to do?" Arthur asked, following him.

"Everything," Marcus replied.

He didn't use the courts. He used the board. He called a meeting of the Rossi Shipping executive board—the very people who had been trying to distance themselves from Isabella. He didn't come with lawyers; he came with the truth.

He projected the interrogation video onto the boardroom screen. He showed the financial trails leading to the hitmen. He showed the emails where Isabella had bragged about the 'accident' she was planning to stage.

The board members sat in stunned silence. They weren't just looking at a criminal; they were looking at a liability that could destroy their own careers.

"She is a cancer," Marcus said, looking around the room. "She has turned your company into a weapon of domestic terror. You can either cut the limb off, or you can go down with her. The choice is yours. But know this: by midnight, I will have filed criminal charges that will ensure she never sees the sun from outside a cell again."

The vote was unanimous. By 8:00 P.M., the Rossi board had publicly disowned Isabella and turned over all her personal records to the authorities. She was alone.
