Chapter 5 - The New Beginning

The aftermath was a whirlwind. The news cycle tore us apart for a week—the "Billionaire Who Walked Away." I stayed in Nathan’s penthouse, avoiding the world, watching him transform. Without the burden of the company, he was lighter, happier. We spent hours in his massive, empty office, talking about everything—our childhoods, our regrets, our dreams.

He was the man I had been waiting for. He saw me, he listened, and for the first time, I felt like I was allowed to be vulnerable.

On a rainy Sunday, we were sitting on the terrace. "I have a surprise for you," he said, handing me a small, velvet box.

My heart skipped. "Nathan, you don't have to—"

"I know," he said, opening the box to reveal a simple, elegant band. "I’m not asking you to marry me for a deal. I’m not asking for a merger. I’m asking if you’ll build a life with me, from scratch, on our own terms."

I looked at him—the man who had walked away from a billion-dollar empire just to keep me safe. I didn't care about the ring. I cared about the heart beating right in front of me, a heart that was finally, truly mine.

"Yes," I whispered.

He kissed me, and as the city lights flickered to life below us, I knew that the waiting was over.
