PART 6: The Reckoning at Zapopan

Call the federal police, Alejandro! Now!" I screamed, sprinting out of the office toward my rental truck.

The drive to the hotel felt like an eternity. My mind reeled with terror. If anything happened to Valeria and Mateo after everything they had already suffered, I would burn the entire world down.

When I tore into the hotel driveway, police sirens were already wailing in the distance. I sprinted through the lobby to find a scene of chaos. Two men in civilian clothes were being pinned to the floor by the hotel's private security team. One of the men had a crowbar; the other had a firearm tucked into his waistband.

I rushed up the elevator to our suite, my breath catching in my throat. I burst through the door.

Valeria was standing in the bathroom, clutching a heavy glass vase, her body shielding Mateo who was hidden in the bathtub. She was shaking, but her eyes showed a fierce, maternal instinct to protect our son at all costs.

When she saw me, she collapsed into my arms, sobbing hysterically. "They tried to break the door, Gabriel! They said they were going to take us back to the shed!"

"You're safe. I'm here. They're arrested," I murmured, kissing her forehead over and over.

The federal police arrived shortly after, accompanied by Alejandro. The two thugs caught at the hotel immediately cracked under interrogation. They were hired muscle paid directly by Roberto using cash he kept hidden in a safe at the Zapopan mansion. This wasn't just a financial dispute anymore; it was attempted kidnapping and armed assault.

"The federal prosecutor has authorized an immediate arrest warrant and a search-and-seizure raid on the mansion," Alejandro told me, his eyes gleaming with righteous anger. "They are moving in right now. Do you want to be there?"

I looked at Valeria. She wiped her tears, a newfound strength appearing in her eyes.

"We are going," Valeria said firmly. "I want him to see that we are no longer afraid."
