Chapter 10 - The Horizon

Five years later.
The sun was setting over the golden fields of our country estate in the Georgia hills.
Five-year-old Luke, Ethan, and Sophia were running across the lush green grass, their joyful shouts and innocent laughter filling the warm summer evening. Luke was chasing a golden retriever, Sophia was twirling in a pink princess dress, and Ethan was proudly showing his mother a shiny red beetle he had found near the garden.
Claire sat on a wooden bench under a giant oak tree, laughing as she wiped dirt off Ethan’s nose.
I walked out from the house carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade, sitting down beside her on the bench. I handed her a glass and wrapped my arm around her waist.
"Look at them," Claire whispered softly, resting her head on my shoulder as we watched our three children play in the golden twilight. "They’re so full of life, Mason."
"They have their mother’s spirit," I smiled, kissing her forehead.
The trials we had endured—the poison, the betrayal, the corporate wars—felt like a distant storm that had passed long ago, leaving behind a clear, beautiful sky. Sloane Infrastructure was now the largest green-energy transit firm in North America, but my true empire was sitting right here on this wooden bench under the oak tree.
"Are you happy, Mason?" Claire asked softly, turning her eyes up to look at me.
I looked at my three healthy, laughing children running through the grass, and then down at the woman who had saved my life in more ways than one.

"I am the richest man in the world, Claire," I answered truthfully, pulling her close into a soft, eternal embrace. "And nothing in this universe will ever take this away from us."
The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant strokes of purple, gold, and pink, cradling our home in peace, safety, and everlasting love.
