Chapter 6 - The Harvest (Happy Ending)

Three Years Later.

The summer sun beat down beautifully over the expansive lawns of the Vance estate. The glass pavilion where a disastrous wedding had taken place four years ago had been completely torn down, replaced by a massive, blooming community garden and a playground where children from the local shelter were currently playing.

Sophie, now four years old, ran across the grass, her pig-tails flying behind her as she chased a golden retriever puppy. "Daddy David, look! I caught him!" she cheered.

David laughed, picking her up and swinging her around in the air until she squealed with delight. He looked over at me, his face glowing with pure happiness.

I sat on a wooden bench, a beautiful, unmistakable baby bump stretching against my sundress. We had been married for two years, a quiet, intimate ceremony surrounded by people who genuinely loved and respected us.

Sometimes, news of the past still drifted in. Ethan was still serving his time in a federal facility, forgotten by the world. Sabrina had taken a job as a receptionist in another state, living a quiet, anonymous life far away from the high society she had tried so desperately to conquer. Margaret had passed away a year ago, lonely and bitter to the very end.

But their darkness no longer had any power over my life.

I looked down at my hand, where a simple, elegant band shone in the sunlight. I looked at my beautiful daughter, my loving husband, and the thriving community we had built from the ashes of betrayal.

Ethan had told me that I would always find a way to live, thinking his cruelty would break me. But he was wrong about one thing: I didn't just find a way to live.

I found a way to truly, beautifully flourish.
