Chapter 6 - THE SHATTERED EMPIRE

The Global Shareholders Summit of C.V. Enterprises was the most exclusive financial event of the decade. Held in the grand auditorium of the Crimson Tower, it brought together the wealthiest investors, political leaders, and media moguls from around the globe.

The atmosphere was electric. The main topic of discussion among the elites was the recent scandal involving the Vanguard family and the mysterious, anonymous owner who had suddenly emerged from the shadows to crush them.

Sitting in the very back row of the gallery, sneaking in using temporary visitor passes they had begged from a low-level janitor, were Diane and Richard Vanguard. They looked ragged, their faces hollowed out by stress and poverty. They were hoping against hope that they could appeal to the other board members during the open forum to save their lives.

"If we can just talk to the senior board members," Diane whispered frantically, her hands shaking. "They knew us for years. They won't let that brat Cassidy destroy us completely. We can still get a settlement."

Richard just stared at his hands, completely broken. "Diane, look around. No one is even looking at us. We are ghosts."

Suddenly, the lights in the auditorium dimmed. A massive spotlight focused on the center stage.

The master of ceremonies stepped up to the microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, shareholders of the world. For ten years, the identity of our founder, our majority owner, and the visionary behind C.V. Enterprises has been kept secret to protect the integrity of our global operations. Today, that secrecy ends. Please welcome the true Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Crimson Vanguard!"

The audience erupted into applause.

The heavy velvet curtains parted. Walking out onto the stage, dressed in a breathtaking, custom-tailored white maternity gown that shimmered under the lights, was me. My hair was perfectly styled, my posture flawless, radiating absolute power and grace. Marcus and Arthur walked three steps behind me, like a royal guard.

In the back row, Diane froze. Her jaw dropped so low it looked deformed. She clutched her chest, gasping for air. "No... no, it can't be. It's her. It's the maid... the poor girl..."

Richard let out a bitter, defeated laugh. "We didn't just kick a dog, Diane. We tried to drown a goddess. We are completely finished."

I walked up to the podium, looking out at the thousands of faces in the crowd. My eyes scanned the room until I found Diane and Richard cowering in the back. I locked eyes with them for a fraction of a second, letting them see the absolute finality in my gaze.

"Good morning, shareholders," I began, my voice echoing with absolute authority. "Today, C.V. Enterprises enters a new era. An era of transparency, strength, and ruthless integrity. We have eliminated the dead weight from our ranks. We have shown that no one—no matter their name or their history—is above the ethical standards of this company."

The crowd cheered, the sound deafening.

For the next hour, I delivered a presentation that redefined the future of global logistics and tech. I announced new initiatives, multi-billion-dollar expansions, and a massive charity foundation dedicated to supporting single mothers and vulnerable women worldwide. By the end of the speech, the entire room was on their feet, giving a standing ovation that lasted for five full minutes.

As the summit concluded, I walked off the stage and into the VIP reception room. Before the security teams closed the doors, Diane rushed forward, breaking through the crowd, throwing herself onto the floor outside the glass doors.

"Cassidy! Please!" Diane screamed, her voice hoarse as she wept openly, banging on the glass. "I’m sorry! I was crazy! I’ll be your maid! I’ll clean your floors with my bare hands! Please don't let them take our pension! We have nothing left to eat!"

I stopped and looked through the glass at the woman who had once poured dirty water over my head and told me to be grateful for a free bath.

I didn't feel hatred. I didn't feel anger. I felt absolutely nothing. They were so far beneath me now that they didn't even register as a threat.

"Arthur," I said, not turning around. "Ensure the law handles their debt liquidation fully. Let them experience the exact life they wished upon me."

"Consider it done, CEO Cassidy," Arthur replied with a respectful nod.
