Chapter 3 - The Truth Goes Viral

The fallout from the board meeting was swift, but Michael wasn't going down without a dirty fight. Within forty-eight hours, tabloid articles began appearing online, clearly planted by Michael’s PR team.

“Harrison Group CEO Faces Malicious Divorce Accusations from Unstable Wife,” one headline read. Another alleged that I was trying to alienate a devoted father from his newborn child due to postpartum jealousy.

My phone flooded with messages. On social media, strangers began leaving nasty comments on my old photos. Michael was trying to control the narrative, painting himself as the hardworking victim of an emotional woman.

Rachel walked into the living room, holding her tablet with a furious expression. "He's crossing the line, Cath. He’s trying to destroy your reputation so the judge will favor him in the asset division."

I looked down at Maya, who was happily kicking her feet on a blanket. I felt a surge of anger, but it was cold and controlled. "He wants to use the media? Fine. Let's give them the actual truth."

Instead of hiring a PR firm, I decided to speak directly to the world. I set up a simple camera in the living room. I didn't wear heavy makeup or expensive clothes. I just sat on the couch with Maya in my arms and hit record.

"My name is Catherine Harrison," I began, my voice steady and calm. "For the past few days, you may have read stories about my marriage, my mental health, and my divorce. I want to tell you what actually happened on the night of October 14th."

For the next ten minutes, I laid bare the entire truth. I recounted the storm, the hours of labor alone, the terror of thinking something was wrong with my baby, and finally, the exact words Amber Collins said to me at 3:07 a.m. while my husband listened in the background. I didn't yell. I didn't cry. I simply stated the facts with absolute dignity.

At the very end of the video, I looked directly into the camera lens. "Michael, you abandoned us in the dark. But you forgot one thing: the storm always passes, and the light always returns. We don't need you anymore."

I uploaded the video to Facebook and Instagram with the caption: The truth behind the storm.

Within three hours, the video had over one million views. By the next morning, it had reached ten million. The internet reacted with absolute fury on my behalf. The hashtag #JusticeForCatherine started trending globally. Women from all over the world shared their own stories of strength and survival, rallying behind me.

Michael’s public image shattered instantly. The sponsors for the Harrison Group began pulling out one by one. The board of directors held an emergency meeting and officially suspended him indefinitely.

That evening, as I sat on the porch breathing in the cool night air, my phone rang. It was an unknown number. I answered it, expecting a reporter.

"Catherine?"

It wasn't a reporter. It was Dr. Daniel Brooks.

"Dr. Brooks?" I said, surprised.

"I saw your video," Daniel said quietly, his tone filled with immense respect. "I just wanted to call and say... you are one of the bravest patients I have ever had the honor of delivering for. Don't let them dim your light."

Tears sprang to my eyes, but this time, they were tears of profound gratitude. "Thank you, Daniel. Your words that night... they gave me the strength to stand up."

"You had the strength inside you all along, Catherine," he replied softly. "I just reminded you to breathe."
