90 "The Billionaire Who Smiled Too Soon"

"Dad..."

"Seal every exit."

I spoke quietly into my phone, my voice steady despite the sting on my face.

With one hand, I brushed the blood from the corner of my lips.

Around me, the charity gala sparkled beneath towering crystal chandeliers.

Designer gowns shimmered under the lights.

Perfectly tailored tuxedos filled the room.

Champagne worth thousands of dollars flowed freely.

The wealthiest people in the city carried on laughing as if nothing unusual had happened.

A few noticed the bruise darkening beneath my eye.

The ripped sleeve of my evening gown.

The thin streak of blood on my mouth.

Then they deliberately looked away.

Looking the other way was easier than standing up to power.

The man who had thrown me against the marble wall casually straightened his diamond cufflinks, wearing the satisfied grin of someone convinced he was untouchable.

He strolled toward me as though assaulting a woman was no more serious than bumping into someone at a cocktail party.

"Still trying to call for help?"

His friends burst into laughter.

One casually lifted his whiskey glass.

"Go ahead."

"Let's see who's brave enough to rescue you."

They believed I had no one.

No influence.

No chance.

That I had already been defeated.

Without a word, I lowered my phone.

"Deploy the security team."

My tone remained calm.

"Initiate a complete lockdown of the property."

There was a brief silence.

Then a composed voice answered through the speaker.

"Yes, ma'am."

The line disconnected.

The man laughed so hard he nearly spilled his drink.

"That's adorable."

"You actually think anyone's coming?"

More laughter rolled through the ballroom.

To everyone watching...

This was simply another form of entertainment.

The victim had already lost.

Or at least, that's what they believed.

I slipped my phone back into my purse.

Every trace of fear disappeared from my face.

Only certainty remained.

Then...

I slowly lifted my eyes toward the security cameras mounted high above the ballroom.

A faint smile crossed my lips.

BOOM!

A thunderous metallic crash ripped through the hall.

The orchestra fell silent in the middle of a song.

Champagne glasses stopped halfway to people's mouths.

Another violent impact echoed through the room.

Then another.

Heads snapped toward the exits—

Just as massive reinforced steel barriers slammed down over every doorway.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Every single exit was sealed shut.

Confusion instantly became panic.

"What the hell is going on?"

Guests rushed toward the doors.

They wouldn't budge.

People shoved, kicked, and pounded against the steel.

Nothing moved.

For the first time that evening...

The smug smile vanished from my attacker's face.

Every ounce of confidence drained away.

He stared at me, his expression frozen.

When he finally spoke, his voice was barely audible.

"...What did you do?"

I stepped toward him, slow and deliberate.

"You made one fatal mistake."

His face turned ghostly pale.

"...What mistake?"

The smile on my face widened.

"You assumed those doors were designed to keep people out."

A final metallic click echoed across the ballroom as the last security lock engaged.

Every possible escape had vanished.

I stopped only inches from him.

"No."

"They were built..."

"...to make sure no one gets out."

In that instant...

Every billionaire, politician, and powerful guest inside the ballroom understood the truth.

This was no longer a glamorous charity gala.

It had become a perfectly sealed trap.
