Chapter 3 - Shifting TidesAs the sun rose over Monaco, the reality of the situation set in. Word had leaked to the financial markets—as it always does—that the Vanguard Dynasty’s core assets were facing an unprecedented legal and technical lockdown. The company’s stock began to plummet in pre-market trading.

Vivienne spent the morning on her knees, metaphorically and literally, begging her legal team and tech experts to find a loophole to bypass the Swiss vault's security. But the answers were unanimous: the system was airtight. The watchmaker’s design was legendary for a reason. Without the physical proximity of the dynamic microchip inside the diamond, the vault would seal forever at midnight.
Desperate, Vivienne crawled back to the luxury villa where Julian and Elena were staying. She knocked on the door, her hair unkempt, her designer clothes wrinkled—a stark contrast to the immaculate woman who had ruled the high society pages for decades.
Julian opened the door, his expression cold. "What do you want, Mother?"
"Julian, please," Vivienne gasped, pushing past him. She fell to her knees before Elena, who was resting on the terrace. "Elena... I beg of you. Call your father. He built it. He must have a backdoor code. A master override. I will give you anything. Half the fortune. The estate in Capri. Just save the family from ruin!"
Elena looked down at the woman who had spent the last year calling her a parasite, a gold-digger, and a stain on the family name. "My father passed away six months ago, Vivienne. You know that. You refused to let Julian attend the funeral because it clashed with a corporate charity gala."
Vivienne flinched, the memory striking her like a whip.
"But even if he were alive," Elena continued, leaning forward, "he wouldn't help you. He believed that wealth without honor is a disease. You proved him right. You didn't just throw away money last night, Vivienne. You threw away your son's respect, your future grandchild’s safety, and your own humanity."

"Please..." Vivienne sobbed, the tears genuine now, born from the terror of losing the only thing that gave her identity: her absolute power. "Don't leave me with nothing."
"There is one way," Elena said quietly. Vivienne looked up, hope flaring in her eyes. "But it will cost you everything you think you own."
