Chapter 4 - The War for Queens

By 2:00 AM, a heavy fog had rolled over the industrial docks of Long Island City, Queens. The rusted shipping containers stood like giant, dark monoliths under the dim yellow streetlights.
Inside a sprawling, abandoned textile warehouse at the end of the pier, Frank Morello sat behind a heavy steel desk, surrounded by twenty heavily armed soldiers.
"Where are they?!" Morello roared, slamming a whiskey bottle onto the desk. "It’s been sixteen hours! Why haven't Frankie and Sal reported back from the school?!"
"Boss," a soldier stammered from the doorway, "their phones are turned off! The street team said there was an accident near the school—"
BOOM!
The massive corrugated metal doors of the warehouse blew inward with a deafening explosion! A cloud of smoke, fire, and shattered iron swept through the building!
Before the smoke could clear, flashbang grenades rained from the upper catwalks, detonating in blinding flashes of white light and thunder!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Ambush!" Morello screamed, ducking behind his desk as bullet fire tore through the room!
Alessandro stepped through the ruined doorway, flanked by thirty elite Moretti tactical guards equipped with night-vision gear and suppressed automatic rifles. He moved with cold, terrifying precision, returning fire with his silver revolver, dropping three Morello gunmen before they could even aim their weapons!
The warehouse descended into absolute chaos! Glass shattered, barrels exploded, and the sound of gunfire echoed across the water!
Within eight minutes, every single one of Frank Morello’s soldiers lay disarmed, wounded, or unconscious on the concrete floor.
Alessandro walked calmly through the settling smoke, stopping at the edge of the steel desk.
Frank Morello was huddled on his knees, bleeding from a shoulder wound, staring up at Alessandro with wide, bloodshot eyes filled with absolute terror.
"Alessandro... please!" Morello gasped, holding up his trembling hands. "It was a mistake! I didn't know the girl meant anything to you! I was just trying to get leverage for the docks!"
Alessandro stepped over the desk, dropping to one knee so he was at eye level with the trembling syndicate leader.
He reached out, grabbing Morello by his silk tie, pulling him close until their faces were inches apart.
"You brought a mother and a six-year-old child into a war between men, Frank," Alessandro whispered, his voice so quiet it sent a chill straight down Morello’s spine. "You targeted an innocent child who did nothing to you except exist."
"I'll leave New York!" Morello begged, tears mixing with the soot on his face. "I'll give you Brooklyn! I'll give you New Jersey! Just spare my life!"
"You will sign over every deed, every shipping line, and every asset your family owns in this city to the Moretti Trust," Alessandro commanded softly. "And then you will take the first flight to Sicily, and if I ever see your face in North America again, I will personally ensure you are buried beneath the concrete of the Navy Yard."
"I'll sign! I'll sign everything!" Morello sobbed, frantically grabbing the pen Alessandro threw onto the floor.

Alessandro stood up, wiping his hands with a white handkerchief. He looked out over the ruined warehouse, his chest rising and falling with heavy, steady breaths.
The war was over. The city was his. But as he looked at the blood on his cuffs, he felt no joy in the victory—only a desperate, burning desire to get back to the two people who had given his empty life a purpose.
