Chapter 2: The Battle of the High-Net-Worth

Chapter 2: The Battle of the High-Net-Worth
The rain outside Mercer Tower didn't slow; it turned into a savage storm that lashed against the glass penthouse offices of Premier Trust Group.
Inside the executive boardroom on the 60th floor, the atmosphere was even more volatile. Leo Aurelius sat at the head of a massive mahogany conference table. He had taken off his wet hoodie, revealing a simple, dark blue cashmere sweater that Arthur Vance had frantically ordered from a luxury boutique downstairs. Despite his small frame, the way he sat—arms crossed, eyes unblinking—made him look larger than the twenty senior board members sitting around him.
The heavy double doors of the boardroom were suddenly thrown open with a violent bang.
Julian Aurelius walked in. He was forty-five, impeccably groomed, wearing an Italian tailored suit, and surrounded by six private security contractors in dark suits and earpieces. He was Leo's uncle, the man who had spent the last three days trying to hunt down his nephew to steal the final succession codes.
"Leo," Julian said, a smooth, patronizing smile spreading across his face as he walked down the length of the table. "You gave the estate guards quite a chase, my boy. Running away in the rain? Sneaking into a retail bank branch? You're acting like a child. This isn't a game. Your mother’s death was a tragedy, but you are eight years old. You cannot run a global financial infrastructure."
Julian waved his hand, and his personal attorney stepped forward, tossing a thick leather binder onto the table in front of Leo.
"Sign the temporary guardianship papers, Leo," Julian instructed, his tone shifting from paternal warmth to a cold, demanding steel. "The board has already drafted an emergency resolution. Until you reach the age of twenty-one, I am the sole administrator of the Aurelius Sovereign Trust. If you sign quietly, you go back to the estate, you get your tutors, your horses, and your luxury. If you don't... I will have the courts declare you psychologically unfit due to the trauma of your mother’s passing."
The Counter-Attack
The board members shifted uncomfortably in their seats. Many of them had been bought by Julian over the last year, prepared for this exact moment. They looked at Leo, waiting for the little boy to break down, to cry, to yield to the immense pressure of the adult world.
But Leo didn't cry. He didn't even look at the papers.
Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, placing it face up on the table. "Mr. Vance," Leo said quietly. "Is the live-stream to our primary institutional investors active?"
Arthur Vance, standing behind Leo like a loyal sentinel, nodded. "Yes, Young Master. Three hundred of our largest global pension funds, sovereign wealth managers, and central bank governors are currently on the encrypted feed."
Julian’s eyes narrowed. "What are you doing, you little brat?"
"I'm executing a public divestment," Leo said smoothly. He tapped his phone screen once.
Instantly, the massive projection screens on the boardroom walls flickered to life. A series of real-time financial charts began to update at an terrifying speed. Millions of dollars—then billions—began to shift out of Julian’s private holding companies, redirected into the bank’s core reserve vaults.
"What is that?!" Julian shrieked, rushing toward the screen. "That's my personal capital! How do you have the authorization to liquidate my holdings?!"
"Your holdings were leveraged against Aurelius corporate bonds, Uncle Julian," Leo explained, his voice sounding like a seasoned judge delivering a verdict. "Under Section 9 of the family bylaws, any member of the dynasty who attempts to use coercion or legal threats against the primary heir automatically forfeits their leveraged corporate collateral. You didn't just lose your guardianship bid today. You just lost your net worth."
The Public Ruin
Julian’s face went from an arrogant flush to a pasty, sweating white. He turned to his security team. "Grab him! Take the phone! Shut down the server!"
The six security contractors stepped forward, but before they could cross the room, the boardroom's side doors burst open. A dozen heavily armed federal marshals, accompanied by the bank’s internal tactical security detail, poured into the room, their weapons raised.
"Step away from the heir, Mr. Aurelius," the lead marshal commanded.
Julian stepped back, his hands shaking as he looked around the room. The board members who had supported him moments ago were now looking away, completely aligning themselves with Leo.
"Leo, please..." Julian stammered, his smooth voice completely gone. "We are family. Your mother wouldn't want this. She wanted us to work together."
"My mother knew exactly who you were, Julian," Leo said, standing up from his high-backed chair. "That's why she gave me the encryption keys when I was six. She told me that wealth isn't something you wear or something you use to look down on people. It's a shield to protect the innocent from people like you."
Leo looked at the federal marshals. "Take him away. Charge him with corporate extortion, illegal wire fraud, and the unlawful confinement of a minor. The evidence was uploaded to the federal database ten minutes ago."

As Julian was dragged out of the boardroom in handcuffs, screaming curses that were drowned out by the thunder outside, Leo turned back to the remaining board members. They were all standing now, bowing their heads in terror and respect.
Leo picked up his sleek black bank card and slipped it back into his pocket. "Gentlemen, lady," Leo said to the board. "The market opens in sixteen hours. I suggest you review the corporate charter on human equity before you arrive at your desks tomorrow morning. Our business model is changing."
