Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Execution

The grand headquarters of the Castillo Group stood in the heart of Madrid’s financial district—a towering thirty-story glass-and-steel skyscraper overlooking the Paseo de la Castellana.
At 10:00 a.m. the following morning, the executive boardroom on the top floor was filled with tension.
Twelve men and women in bespoke suits sat around a massive oval table crafted from polished black marble. At the head of the table sat Arthur Vance—a silver-haired man in his late sixties with cold, calculating eyes and an air of smooth, corporate arrogance.
"Gentlemen, ladies," Vance said, tapping his gold pen against his leather notepad. "We all know why we are gathered here today on such short notice. Following the tragic, continued absence of Alejandro Castillo and the recent legal complications surrounding his cousin Vivian, the board must act to protect the shareholders."
A senior board member leaned forward. "Arthur, there are rumors circulating in the press that federal agents raided the Castillo estate in New York last night. They say Vivian was arrested."
Vance waved his hand dismissively. "Unfounded gossip spread by rival financial firms. Vivian is currently handling a private matter in the United States. However, to ensure our stock stability, we must execute Resolution 409—transferring executive voting rights to our holding management team in Zurich."
He pressed a button on his console, lighting up the large digital screen at the front of the room.
"We need a two-thirds majority," Vance instructed smoothly. "Please cast your digital votes now."
Before anyone could press a button, the heavy double doors at the back of the boardroom were blown open with a loud, reverberating crash.
Four armed officers from the Spanish National Police stepped into the room, securing the doorway.
Behind them stepped Alejandro Castillo.
He wore a tailored charcoal three-piece suit, his posture tall, imposing, and radiant with cold power. Beside him, dressed in an exquisite navy-blue silk dress, her blonde hair styled in soft waves, walked Elena Castillo.
She wore her original diamond wedding ring, which had been recovered from the safe, and held her head high, her blue eyes sweeping over the frozen faces of the board members.
Gasps echoed across the room. Two board members jumped out of their chairs so fast their water glasses spilled onto the marble table.
"A-Alejandro?!" Vance stammered, his face turning the color of chalk. His gold pen slipped from his fingers, rolling across the mahogany wood. "Elena?! But... but you... you were—"
"Dead?" Elena supplied smoothly, her voice echoing clearly off the glass walls. "Or were you going to say 'insane', Arthur? That was the official statement you drafted for the press three years ago, wasn't it?"
Alejandro walked down the center of the boardroom, his leather shoes clicking loudly against the polished floor. He stopped right beside Vance’s chair, leaning down until his face was inches from the old man's ear.
"You look surprised, Arthur," Alejandro murmured. "Did you think my father’s ghost wouldn't come back to collect his debts?"
"This... this is an illegal disruption of a private corporate meeting!" Vance spluttered, trying desperately to regain his footing, looking at the police officers. "Officers! Remove these people immediately!"
The lead Spanish police inspector stepped forward, pulling a stack of federal arrest warrants from his leather coat.
"Arthur Vance," the inspector announced in clear Spanish. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, international money laundering, corporate fraud, and obstruction of justice."
"What?!" Vance shrieked. "On what evidence?!"
Alejandro picked up the remote on the conference table and clicked a button.
The digital screen at the front of the room shifted. Instead of the voting resolution, it instantly began playing a high-definition video feed.
The screen showed the interrogation room at the federal detention center in New York. Sitting at the metal table, stripped of her designer clothes and wearing an orange jump suit, was Vivian Varga.
On the video recording, Vivian’s bitter, sobbing voice rang through the boardroom speakers:
"...It wasn't just me! Arthur Vance took thirty percent of every flight shipment! He was the one who forged Gabriel Castillo's medical reports! He helped me hide Elena in the west wing because he knew if she signed the trust documents over to Alejandro, we would both go to prison for life!..."
The boardroom erupted into total panic. Three board members immediately raised their hands, shouting that they had been tricked, while two others sat paralyzed in absolute terror.
Alejandro stood at the head of the table, looking down at the corrupt board that had tried to steal his family's legacy.
"Effective immediately," Alejandro announced, his voice ringing with absolute, unchallenged authority, "under Section 12 of the Castillo Group Charter, as sole surviving heirs of Gabriel Castillo, Elena and I hereby dissolve this board of directors."

He looked at the officers.
"Take them all."
