Chapter 6 - The Horizon Ahead

One year later.
The sun was setting over the San Diego harbor, casting a brilliant orange and gold glow across the quiet waters of the Pacific Ocean.
A crowd of over five hundred people had gathered on the pier for the official dedication ceremony of the Celeste Vance Naval Training Center—a fifty-million-dollar state-of-the-art facility dedicated to training naval engineers in damage control and emergency ship repair.

The entire audience stood as one, erupting into thunderous applause that echoed across the harbor.
Admiral Reed raised his hand in a sharp salute, followed by every officer and sailor in attendance.

I raised my hand, returning the salute with absolute pride, ready for whatever horizon lay ahea
