Chapter 5 - The Final Gamble

The final battle didn't happen in a church, but in the boardroom of the Whitmore family empire. Dante had methodically collected enough evidence of my father’s fraud, embezzlement, and racketeering to ensure he would never see the light of day again.

We walked into the boardroom, hand-in-hand. My father looked smaller, older, and terrified. Julian sat beside him, his face bruised from our last encounter, his arrogance finally replaced by a dull, hollow rage.

"You think you’ve won?" Julian sneered. "The board will never let a woman lead, and they’ll never let a mob boss dictate our terms."

"The board," I said, sliding a thick file across the mahogany table, "has already seen the evidence of your illegal contracts and the systematic theft of my mother’s estate. And as the primary heir, I am exercising my right to liquidate the company and dissolve the partnership."

The silence in the room was absolute. My father tried to speak, but the words died in his throat as the federal agents waited just outside the double doors. The empire he had built on the backs of his children was collapsing, and for the first time, I felt the weight of the diamonds—not as a collar, but as dust.
