Chapter 6 - A New Beginning

Six months later.
The sun was shining brightly over a beautiful, spacious estate in the hills of Silverspring. The sound of children's laughter echoed from the backyard, where Annie, now wearing a beautiful, clean yellow sundress, was running around with a golden retriever puppy Victor had bought her for her ninth birthday.
On the spacious patio overlooking the garden, a beautiful table was set with an abundance of fresh fruits, pastries, and a large pot of tea.
Catherine sat at the table, looking radiant, healthy, and incredibly beautiful. She was wearing her wedding ring again, polished and shining in the sunlight.
Victor walked out of the house, carrying a tray of freshly baked sweet bread. He set it down on the table and sat next to his wife, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close.
“Smells amazing,” Catherine smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder. “You’re getting better at baking.”
“Only the best for my girls,” Victor laughed, kissing her temple.
Just then, Brian Smith walked onto the patio, dressed in a sharp suit. He was no longer just a chauffeur; Victor had promoted him to Head of Corporate Security and Logistics for the Williams Group.
“Mr. and Mrs. Williams,” Brian said with a respectful nod. “I just received a call from our legal team. The final sentencing has been handed down.”
Victor’s expression turned serious, though calm. “And?”
“Maris Williams has been sentenced to ten years in a maximum-security federal prison, with no possibility of parole. All of her hidden assets have been seized by the state to pay back the restitution owed to Mrs. Catherine and Annie.”
Victor felt a quiet sense of closure. He looked out at the garden where Annie was laughing, rolling on the grass with the puppy.
“Thank you, Brian,” Victor said. “For everything.”
“It was my honor, sir. Enjoy your afternoon,” Brian smiled, stepping back inside the house.
Catherine looked at Victor, her eyes soft and filled with endless love. “Do you feel sad about your mother?”
Victor shook his head, taking her hand and squeezing it. “I lost my mother three years ago when she decided to value money and social status over human lives. But I found my real family again. That’s all that matters to me.”
Annie came running up the patio steps, her face flushed with excitement. She jumped onto Victor’s lap, hugging him tightly.
“Dad! Mom! Look what I found!” she giggled, holding up a perfect, shiny four-leaf clover from the grass. “It’s for good luck!”

Victor smiled, wrapping his arms around his wife and daughter, holding them close in the warm afternoon sun.
“We don’t need luck anymore, sweetheart,” Victor whispered, looking at Catherine with a smile that reached his eyes. “We have everything we need right here.”
