Chapter 5 - New Beginnings from the Ashes
The labor was long and exhausting, lasting over fourteen hours, but Valeria felt no fear. Every painful contraction was a reminder that she was alive, free, and fighting for the future of her child. Her father never left her side, holding her hand through every moment, whispering words of encouragement.
At exactly 4:14 AM, the quiet hospital room was filled with the loud, beautiful, and demanding cry of a newborn baby.
The doctor gently placed the clean, wrapped infant into Valeria’s arms. He was a beautiful boy, with a head of thick dark hair and ten perfect fingers and toes.
"Look at him, Valeria," Ricardo whispered, tears streaming down his face as he looked at his grandson. "He is perfect."
"His name is Leo," Valeria said, her voice tired but glowing with an absolute, fierce love. "Leo Salazar. He will carry our family name, Papa. A name of honor."
While Valeria was embracing her new life, the final remnants of her past were being permanently destroyed.
