Chapter 3 – The Truth Above the Clouds

Halfway through the flight, Amelia quietly opened her laptop.
She wasn't simply another passenger.
She was Rebecca Amelia Brooks...
Chairwoman of the airline's Board of Directors.
She had intentionally traveled anonymously to evaluate customer service after receiving complaints from employees and passengers alike.
Everything that had happened...
Had been recorded.
Not only by cabin surveillance.
But by the small body camera worn by the purser during premium service evaluations.
Amelia requested access to the catering records.
Within minutes, disturbing inconsistencies appeared.
Jacob's expired sandwich had never been assigned to first class.
It had been marked for disposal before departure.
Someone had deliberately removed it from the waste container.
Then assigned it to seat 2A.
She looked toward Jacob.
The little girl was now awake.
She smiled weakly while coloring inside a small notebook.
Jacob quietly peeled an orange for her.
He never once complained.
Never demanded compensation.
Never asked who Amelia really was.
That bothered her even more.
When the plane landed in San Francisco, Amelia approached him one last time.
"Mr. Carter."
He stood.
"Yes?"
She handed him a business card.
"If anyone contacts you about today's flight..."
"Please answer."
Jacob glanced at the card.
Then looked back at her in surprise.
"You work for the airline?"
She smiled.
"A little."
