CHAPTER 2: THE MYSTERIOUS SAVIOR

CHAPTER 2: THE MYSTERIOUS SAVIOR

The delivery room had turned into chaos.

Nurses shouted over each other. A monitor beeped in urgent, irregular patterns. The husband lay on the floor near a toppled medical cart, groaning in pain and disbelief, his pride more wounded than his body.

But none of that reached her anymore.

Not really.

Because the older man was still standing beside her bed.

Still holding her face gently in his hands.

Still looking at her like she was something he had lost a long time ago… and never expected to see again.

Her breathing was uneven. Her body was still locked in the aftermath of labor pain and fear. Her eyes flicked between him and the chaos behind him.

“Who are you?” she whispered again, weaker this time. “Please… I don’t understand…”

The man’s jaw tightened.

For a moment, it looked like he was fighting something inside himself.

Memories. Pain. Regret.

Finally, he lowered his hands slowly, as if forcing himself to let go.

“My name…” he said quietly, “is not important right now.”

That answer only made her more anxious.

Security guards rushed into the room.

“Step away from the patient!” one of them shouted, moving toward him.

But before anyone could touch him, the man turned slightly—just enough for his presence alone to make them hesitate.

There was something about him.

Not just authority.

Not just strength.

But experience.

The kind of presence that didn’t ask for permission… it expected it.

A senior doctor followed behind the guards, scanning the scene in shock.

“What happened here?” the doctor demanded.

The husband, now sitting up, pointed angrily. “He attacked me! He came in here and assaulted me for no reason!”

But the older man didn’t even look at him.

His eyes stayed on her.

The pregnant woman swallowed hard.

Her instincts screamed at her that this man—whoever he was—was not dangerous to her.

In fact… he was the only thing in the room that felt safe.

Still trembling, she tried to sit up slightly.

The older man immediately stepped closer again, but this time slower, careful.

“Don’t move too much,” he said softly. “You’re still in labor. You need to focus on your baby.”

The way he said it made her freeze.

Not just the words.

But the tone.

It was… familiar.

Too familiar.

Her voice shook. “How do you know what I need?”

The room quieted slightly, tension hanging in the air like a wire ready to snap.

The older man looked down at her belly for a long moment.

Then back at her face.

And what he said next made everyone in the room go silent.

“I watched you grow up.”

Her breath stopped.

“What…?”

Even the nurses paused.

The husband, still furious, laughed bitterly from the floor. “What kind of nonsense is that?”

But the man didn’t react to him.

Instead, he slowly pulled something from inside his coat pocket.

A small, worn photograph.

Edges softened by time.

He held it carefully, like it was something fragile.

Then he placed it gently on the edge of her bed.

Her shaking fingers reached for it instinctively.

And when she saw it—

Her world tilted.

It was a picture of a little girl.

Maybe seven or eight years old.

Standing beside a man who looked… exactly like the one in front of her.

Same eyes.

Same expression.

But younger.

Alive.

Happy.

Her throat tightened. “This… this is me…”

Her voice cracked.

The older man nodded slowly.

“Yes.”

The word hit her like a shockwave.

She looked up at him, panic rising again. “That’s impossible… I don’t remember you… I don’t remember this photo…”

His expression darkened slightly.

“I know,” he said. “Because you were taken from me when you were too young to remember anything clearly.”

The room went completely still.

Even the monitors seemed quieter now, as if the entire hospital was holding its breath.

The husband’s face shifted.

Confusion replaced anger.

“What are you talking about?” he snapped. “She’s my wife!”

That sentence seemed to cut through the air like a blade.

The older man finally turned his head slightly toward him.

For the first time.

His gaze was cold.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just absolute.

“You touched her,” he said simply.

The husband scoffed. “She’s my wife! I can do whatever I want—”

He didn’t finish the sentence.

Because the older man took one step forward.

That was all.

One step.

But it felt like the entire room shifted with him.

Even the security guards instinctively hesitated.

The doctor raised a hand nervously. “Sir, please, calm down—”

But the man interrupted quietly, without looking away from the husband.

“She is not your property.”

Silence.

Heavy.

Pressing.

Then he turned back to her again, his voice softening immediately, like switching from steel to glass.

“I didn’t come here to cause chaos,” he said. “I came because I finally found you again.”

Her hands shook as she held the photograph.

Her mind was spinning.

“I don’t understand…” she whispered. “If you know me… why would I be here? Why would I be with him?”

Her eyes flicked toward her husband on the floor.

The older man’s expression changed again.

This time… darker.

“He was never supposed to be near you,” he said quietly.

That sentence changed everything in the room.

Because it wasn’t just an emotional statement.

It sounded like a fact.

A warning.

A truth buried for too long.

The husband’s face tightened. “You’re insane! She chose me! We’re married!”

But the older man finally straightened fully.

And what he said next froze every person in that room.

“Then we need to talk about how that marriage happened.”

A long silence followed.

Only the sound of the baby monitor… and the distant hospital alarms outside.

The woman lay there, heart pounding, one hand still holding the photograph.

Her entire life—past and present—suddenly felt like it was built on something she had never been allowed to see.

And somewhere deep inside her fear…

A question began to grow.

Not just who this man was.

May you like

But—

What had really been done to her?
