Chapter 3: The Family Empire Collapses

Margaret stood so abruptly that her chair nearly tipped over.
"This is ridiculous!" she shouted.
But her voice no longer carried confidence.
Only fear.
The second officer placed another file onto the table.
"This was recovered from Mr. Kane's email account."
Victor's face turned white.
The officer began reading.
"Once the policy is finalized, everything becomes easier."
Emily covered her mouth.
"No..."
The officer continued.
"She trusts me completely. By next year, the money will solve all our problems."
The message had been sent to Victor's cousin.
Three months earlier.
The restaurant erupted with shocked whispers.
Margaret grabbed Victor's arm.
"Tell them this isn't true."
Victor remained silent.
For the first time in his life, nobody could save him.
Not money.
Not family.
Not lies.
Emily slowly stood from her chair.
She looked at her husband.
The man she had loved for seven years.
The father of her son.
The man she had defended countless times.
Then she raised her hand.
The slap echoed across the entire restaurant.
Victor didn't fight back.
He couldn't.
"You used me," Emily whispered.
"No..." Victor stammered.
"You stole from me."
His silence answered.
"You hurt me."
Again, silence.
"And tonight, you humiliated me in public."
Tears rolled down Emily's cheeks.
But her voice remained steady.
"We're done."
The officers stepped forward.
One officer placed handcuffs around Victor's wrists.
The metallic click sounded like the end of a long nightmare.
Margaret screamed.
Victor looked at his mother.
For the first time, she had no solution.
No influence.
No control.
Nothing.
As the officers escorted him toward the door, every guest watched.
Nobody defended him.
May you like
Nobody followed him.
His empire of fear had finally collapsed.
