The hall no longer felt like a celebration.

It felt like a courtroom without a judge.

Daniel held the phone now.

His eyes didn’t leave the screen.

And again.

Sara stayed still, breathing evenly, like she had prepared for this moment for a long time.

Lillian stepped forward.

“Daniel, listen to me. She’s a maid. She wants to ruin everything—our wedding, our future—”
