Rubio Hints At ‘Plan B’ In Iran Despite New Developments

NEWS June 2, 2026 Trends7News

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that back-channel negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions in the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict have made “a little bit of movement,” though he stressed that progress remains limited and uncertain.

Rubio adopted a cautious tone, saying the latest developments are somewhat encouraging but not enough to justify optimism. “I don’t want to exaggerate it, but there’s been a little bit of movement, and that’s good,” he said, adding that he is “not popping champagne yet.” He emphasized that Washington does not want to overstate the situation and warned that the opportunity for diplomacy may not remain open indefinitely.

Behind the scenes, Pakistan is again playing a mediating role. Security sources indicate that Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is expected to travel to Tehran for discussions with Iranian officials, as Islamabad works to sustain communication between Washington and Tehran.

Sticking Points In Diplomatic Efforts

A major sticking point in the discussions is Iran’s reported proposal for a “tolling system” in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route. Rubio rejected the idea outright, calling it unacceptable and warning it would undermine any diplomatic progress. The Strait of Hormuz remains central to global energy security, handling roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil shipments, making any disruption a serious international concern.

While she did not specifically mention the conflict, she offered "heartfelt condolences" to families who have lost family members in the line of military duty.

"First, my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their heroes, who sacrificed their lives for freedom. Their bravery and dedication will always be remembered. I extend my earnest wishes for a swift and smooth recovery to all those who have been injured," she said.

She then referenced school children caught in war but did not specifically mention what Iranian officials said were dozens of students killed at an all-girls elementary school during the U.S. and Israeli military strikes.

"You are in my thoughts and prayers during these challenging times. The U.S. stands with all of the children throughout the world. I hope soon peace will be yours," she added.

Asked about the incident before he briefed congressional leaders on the Iran campaign on Monday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. would never target a school.

"I can't speak to the details behind it because I'm not, I just don't have it. It would be a tragic outcome if it's happened. I don't have the details as to what led to it, but what is clear is that the United States would not deliberately target a school."

Rubio said the Department of Defense would investigate if it was a U.S. strike. The Pentagon has not commented on the reports.

Her appearance marked the first time a first lady has presided over a U.N. Security Council meeting.

Throughout her brief remarks, Trump focused on arguing how expanding access to education for younger generations can improve their understanding of other cultures and societies, and in turn, help sustain peace throughout the world.

"Children raised in a culture rooted in intelligence develop confidence, innovate, build, compete, and maintain a deep value system. Their knowledge fosters empathy for others, transcending geography, religion, race, gender, and even local norms. They become caring people," she argued.

"But children raised in culture rooted in ignorance are surrounded by disorder and sometimes even conflict. These societies are filled with rigid thinkers who embrace justice and shun human dignity," she added.

Notably, she implored world leaders to protect books and languages as a way to promote peace.

"A nation that makes learning sacred, protects its books, its language, its science and its mathematics. It protects its future. This leads to something powerful, to greater understanding, moral reasoning, and tolerance of others," she said.

Melania Trump also continued to advocate for the use of advanced technologies in education, a topic that she has focused on throughout her husband's second term, specifically artificial intelligence -- while also warning of the harms it could bring such as digital sexual exploitation.

As it relates to education, she argued that greater technology can help replace fear with "peace and unity."

"The path to peace depends on us taking responsibility to empower our children through education and technology. Conflict arises from ignorance, but knowledge creates understanding, replacing fear with peace and unity," she said in concluding her remarks.

Kai Trump Opens Up About Relationship With Grandpa Donald at Convention

NEWS June 11, 2026 Trends7News

Kai Madison Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, was born in New York in 2007 and has largely remained out of the public eye until recently. The eldest of Trump’s grandchildren, she stepped onto the national stage for the first time at the 2024 Republican National Convention. At the convention, Kai delivered remarks that focused on the personal rather than the political. “The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person. But I know him for who he is. He is very caring and loving,” she said. She shared specific details about their family dynamic, noting that her grandfather sneaks her candy and soda when her parents aren’t looking. “When I made the high honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me,” Kai said, illustrating moments of quiet family connection.

Kai has developed a serious passion for golf and regularly competes against her grandfather on the course. “It’s a stiff competition… he always gives me a run for my money,” she said, acknowledging that he wins more often than she prefers. The teenager moved to Florida and immersed herself in the sport at a school known for producing elite golfers. She has already won a ladies’ club championship at one of Trump’s courses and committed to joining the women’s golf team at the University of Miami. “Golf has always been a massive part of my life… I always aspire to be a leader on and off the course,” she stated, signaling clear athletic ambitions.

Maintaining an Ordinary Life

Despite growing up in a high-profile family, Kai emphasized that she maintains a relatively ordinary teenage life. “I fit in with everyone else. You would not know at all-and that’s the way I like to keep it,” she said. She has also made clear that politics does not factor into her current plans, despite her convention appearance. Her focus remains on her athletic future and personal development. Reflecting on a recent family reunion with her grandfather, Kai described an emotional moment: “It was really special… we got a little teary-eyed, both of us. I’ll never forget that.”

Online reactions to her public appearances have often highlighted that Kai carries herself with composure and polish despite the attention surrounding her name. Many viewers have described her as grounded and polite. Her emerging public narrative reflects a contrast between inherited identity and self-determined identity. While her family name carries political and media weight, her personal identity appears rooted in family relationships, shared hobbies, and athletic discipline.

SCOTUS Rules Against AT&T, Verizon Over Fines For Selling Location Data

NEWS June 12, 2026 Trends7News

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday against AT&T and Verizon in a closely watched dispute over federal penalties tied to the sale of consumers’ real-time location data. Advertisement The decision preserves the FCC’s authority to impose financial penalties through its administrative enforcement system. It is a major victory for federal regulators seeking to police privacy violations in the telecommunications industry. Advertisement Last year, AT&T persuaded the 5th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals to throw out an FCC fine, arguing that the agency’s process improperly bypassed a jury. Verizon, however, lost a similar challenge before the 2nd Circuit, creating conflicting rulings that prompted Supreme Court review.

In an 8-1 decision, the justices sided with the FCC and overturned the 5th Circuit’s ruling. Justice Clarence Thomas was the lone dissenter, ARSTechnica reported. The ruling strengthens the federal government’s power to impose administrative penalties on companies accused of breaking telecommunications and privacy laws, while reducing a constitutional challenge that could have greatly restricted the enforcement powers of regulatory agencies. The dispute stemmed from $104 million in FCC fines imposed on AT&T and Verizon in 2024 over allegations that the companies improperly handled customers’ real-time location data, conduct first brought to light in 2018, the outlet noted.

 FCC Framework and Constitutional Challenge

Under the FCC framework, companies can pay a fine and seek review through the federal appeals courts rather than having the case initially decided by a jury. The carriers contended that this process deprived them of a constitutional safeguard guaranteed in civil cases involving substantial financial penalties, ARSTechnica noted further. According to the Court, the carriers could have refused to pay the fines and forced the government to pursue collection efforts, a process that ultimately could have resulted in a jury trial.

Just after boasting about a major victory, Trump becomes angry again.

Only one day after declaring a deal with Iran nearly complete, President Donald Trump spoke out against it, claiming Tehran misrepresented the proposal.

On the social media platform Truth Social on the morning of June 12th, Trump wrote: "The terms Iran is publishing in the media have absolutely no bearing on what has been agreed upon in writing."

He also emphasized that “the ‘fake news’ reports about this agreement are untrue and show Iran’s lack of goodwill in negotiations.”

Earlier, Iranian state media published draft agreements, including Iran’s refusal to cede control of the Strait of Hormuz and its demand for the release of $24 billion in frozen assets from the U.S.

In return, the two sides are expected to launch a 60-day negotiating process to resolve outstanding issues regarding nuclear programs and Middle Eastern security.

Trump stressed that Iran’s continued threats against ships in the Strait of Hormuz are “completely unacceptable” and demanded that Tehran change its behavior soon.

However, behind this declared agreement lies a complex picture.
