Chapter 1: The Truth Buried for Eight Years

Chapter 1: The Truth Buried for Eight Years

The silver necklace trembled in the homeless boy's hand.

The woman stared at it as though she had seen a ghost.

"No..." she whispered.

Tears spilled down her cheeks.

Eight years ago, she had given birth to twin boys.

Ethan and Noah.

But during a devastating hospital fire that broke out only days after their birth, one baby had disappeared amid the chaos. Authorities searched for months but found nothing. Eventually, she was told that Noah had most likely died.

For years she carried the guilt.

For years she visited a small memorial stone bearing her missing son's name.

And now he was sitting right in front of her.

Alive.

The homeless boy looked confused as the woman dropped to her knees.

"Where did you get that necklace?" she asked.

"It belonged to my mother," he answered quietly.

"I don't remember much about her. She passed away last winter."

The woman covered her mouth.

A poor widow had apparently found the lost infant during the fire and raised him as her own. She had never known his true identity.

Ethan looked back and forth between them.

"Mom... are you saying he's my brother?"

The woman nodded through her tears.

"Yes."

For a moment, nobody spoke.

Then Ethan walked forward and wrapped his arms around Noah.

The homeless boy froze.

He had never been hugged by anyone his entire life.

And suddenly, he began to cry.
