Chapter 3: A Sovereign Rebirth (Happy Ending)
Six months later.
The grand ballroom of the Blackwood Estate was bathed in warm gold light, filled with the soft chatter of the country's most powerful elites, dignitaries, and business leaders. Classical music drifted through the air, celebrating the grand reopening of the Blackwood Maritime Group under its new, undisputed CEO: Mara Blackwood.
I stood near the grand glass windows, looking out over the manicured gardens. In my arms, wrapped in a soft silk blanket, was my five-month-old daughter, Evelyn Sapphire Blackwood. She had my grandfather’s bright, intelligent eyes, and she was currently giggling at the sparkling chandelier above us.
Harrison walked up beside me, handing me a glass of sparkling cider. "The final verdicts came in from the federal court this afternoon, Mara."
"And?" I asked, adjusting Evelyn in my arms.
"Ethan Vance was sentenced to twenty-five years in a maximum-security federal penitentiary for attempted murder, corporate fraud, and domestic battery. No parole," Harrison reported, his tone filled with deep satisfaction. "Vanessa received twelve years as an accessory and for the theft of the Blackwood family heirlooms. They are currently being transferred to separate facilities. They will never see the light of day again."
I closed my eyes for a brief second, feeling the final, heavy chains of my past dissolve into nothingness.
When Ethan had kicked me on that kitchen floor, he thought he was erasing my future. He thought he was establishing his dominance, proving that a man with cruelty could conquer a woman with a legacy. He never realized that a Blackwood doesn't break—we simply wait for the perfect moment to strike.
"A toast," Harrison said, raising his glass to me and the baby. "To the Queen of the Blackwood Empire, and to the little princess who will inherit it all."

I clinked my glass against his, looking down at my beautiful, healthy baby girl. I kissed her soft forehead, whispering a promise I knew I would keep for the rest of my life.
"You will never have to fight from the floor, my love," I murmured as the ballroom erupted in applause for our family’s triumphant return. "Because the world belongs to you."
