Chapter 6 - A Lighthouse in the Storm

Six Months Later
The morning sun cast a brilliant, warm glow across the sprawling back lawns of the Castellano estate. The Hudson River rolled gently past the lower gates, no longer looking like a cold barrier, but like a beautiful highway of endless possibilities.
The sound of joyful laughter echoed across the grass.
Four-year-old Mia, wearing a beautiful yellow sundress and two perfect, neat braids, was running through the gardens, chasing a golden retriever puppy. She had a brilliant, gap-toothed smile on her face, her eyes sparkling with pure, unadulterated happiness.
Sitting on a stone bench overlooking the river was Sofia. She looked stunning, wearing an elegant cream-colored blazer and trousers, a folder of estate documents resting in her lap. But she wasn't looking at the paperwork. Her eyes were fixed on the man walking out of the mansion’s French doors.
Dominic walked toward her, entirely relaxed. He wasn't wearing his heavy wool coats or his dark corporate suits. He wore a soft linen shirt and casual trousers, a silver tray in his hands carrying two cups of fresh espresso.
"You're working too hard, Director Reyes," Dominic teased smoothly, sitting down beside her and handing her a cup.
Sofia smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder. "I'm just making sure the autumn maintenance budget is perfectly allocated. I heard a rumor the master of the house is very particular about his radiators."
Dominic let out a low, warm laugh, wrapping his arm securely around her waist, pulling her close. "The master of the house only cares about one thing: keeping the woman he loves warm."
They had officially stepped out into the open as a couple three months ago, much to the delight of the estate staff, who now viewed Sofia as the true heart of the Castellano sanctuary. Dominic’s corporate merger had been a massive success, establishing his family empire as a fully legitimate, transparent global logistics powerhouse. The shadows of the past had been completely erased.
"Look, Mama! Look, Daddy!" Mia screamed, running over to the bench.
Dominic’s heart swelled every single time she used that word—Daddy. She had started calling him that a month ago, and it had completely healed the last fractured pieces of his soul.
Mia held up a small, beautifully folded piece of blue paper she had been coloring on. It was a drawing of a giant house, a little girl, a beautiful mother, and a tall man with a big smile, all holding hands under a massive, shining yellow sun.
Dominic reached down, lifting Mia effortlessly onto his lap, kissing her cheek. "This is a masterpiece, Mia. I’m going to frame it and put it right above the desk in the main study."
"Really?" Mia asked, her eyes huge with delight.
"Really," Dominic promised softly, looking up to meet Sofia’s warm, loving gaze.

Sofia reached over, her hand locking into Dominic’s, their fingers intertwining perfectly.
From the laundry room sink to the director’s chair, from an empty tomb to a home filled with love, the storm had finally passed. Under the beautiful morning sky, the Castellano family stood together—anchored, safe, and completely whole.
